The word
masterpiece when referring to Pop Art tends to need to be loosely
applied. Art as ever is in the eye of the beholder.
There are a number of very important works by a range of artists that
could be considered masterpieces.
We could measure masterpiece by just how iconic an image has become and
this can make a big difference.
Andy Warhol, for instance, could rightly have been considered to have
created a masterpiece when he printed the Campbell's Soup Can as
below...Others would say there are a number of
other paintings to choose from.
