History of Modern America through Pop Art As America emerged from the 1950's the capital of the new consummerism, so emerged the pop artists from the same era. There
has never neen any doubt that American Pop Art has long revolved around
Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol. Jasper Johns' work has
certainly become iconic in every sense of the word. Creating the most
interesting images with simple every day iconography. In particular his
American Flag makes a statement about the nature of the Flag, the ways
in which we create false idols and raises questions about national
identity.

to be the work of Andy
Warhol.
